Caring for the Caregiver
The Fourth Trimester — the first 3 months postpartum — is a time of joy, but it is physically gruelling. Moms spend hours looking down, feeding the baby, changing diapers, and rocking to sleep.
This creates a condition often called Nursing Neck. The head shifts forward, putting up to 40 pounds of effective leverage pressure on the base of the neck.
Bring Baby to You
The most important tip: bring the baby to the breast (or bottle), not the breast to the baby.
Use pillows to prop the baby up high so you can keep your spine straight.
Avoid hunching your shoulders.
Resetting the Nervous System
New moms are also often in a state of Fight or Flight due to sleep deprivation. Gentle chiropractic adjustments help stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system (Rest and Digest). This helps your body relax, recover, and handle the stress of new motherhood with more resilience.
