Dad's Back: Why Your Golf Swing Needs a Nervous System Check

Is Your Spine Improving or Hurting Your Handicap?

Father's Day is coming up, and for many Dads in Winnipeg, that means hitting the links at St. Charles or Assiniboine Golf Club. But nothing ruins a round faster than that twinge in the lower back on the 9th hole.

Golf is a Neurological Sport

Golf requires complex coordination. Your brain has to tell your body to rotate your hips, stabilize your core, and swing the club, all in a split second. If your spine is subluxated, two things happen:

  1. Mechanical Compensation: If your mid-back (thoracic spine) will not turn, your lower back (lumbar spine) forces the turn. The lumbar spine is not designed for that much rotation, leading to injury.

  2. Neurological Lag: Interference in the nervous system slows down the communication between brain and muscle. This affects your coordination and power.

Stay in the Game

Chiropractic care for golfers is not just about pain relief — it is about performance. By ensuring your thoracic spine is mobile and your pelvis is stable, we help you generate power safely. Whether you are playing St. Charles or your local course, a clear spine means a better swing.
